Our teeth is very important to us for chewing, speaking, and many more.
But do you know what lies in it and what is parts of our tooth??
Well, In general, parts of our tooth is consist of Crown and Root
Crown is part of the teeth covered by enamel and placed above gums.
Root is parts of the teeth covered by cementum and supported by the alveolar bone from maxilla and mandible.
Layers in Our Tooth
Enamel
Enamel is derived from ectoderm tissue. It is the hardest, most powerful tissue in our body, therefore it is the protector of the most powerful teeth to stimuli during mastication.
Email does not have the ability to replace the damaged parts. When it erupts, there will be changes in the chemical composition of tooth enamel that make it stronger against various stimuli it receives, whether it is mechanical, thermal, or chemical.
Dentin
Dentin is derived from mesoderm tissue and have the same composition and origin as bone. Unlike enamel, dentine has the ability to repair itself. It supports the enamel and have nerve fibers in it.
Cementum
Cementum is part of the tooth and periodontium tissue because it connects teeth to the jawbone with tissue contained in the periodontal membrane. Cementum has several functions such as a protector, supporting teeth, and provide food for the teeth, especially in old age.
Pulp
Pulp is the soft tissue of the tooth. Pulp tissue derived from mesenchyme and has various functions: as a building, retaining, containing nutrients, and contains nerve cells / sensory.
