How to Brush Your Teeth Properly


Brushing teeth before and after sleeping is a common activity to gain healthy teeth and avoid having bad breath. But, do you know that if we can’t brush our teeth properly, it can damage our teeth and gum as well?
It can make our gum swelling and also gingival recession. So, in order to take care of our gum and teeth we must be able to brush our teeth properly.


MUST KNOWN PRINCIPLE IN BRUSHING TEETH


Well, before we know about the technique, we must know these four principle in brushing our teeth, if you know these principle, I can guarantee your teeth will be clean....so,, check it out!!!

1.It must be able to clean the entire deposits which located in tooth and gum surfaces, especially the gum pocket and interdental space.
2.The toothbrush movement doesn’t damage the gum tissue and tooth layer by not giving excessive pressure.
3.Correct way of brushing and do it efficiently.
4.Do it three time a day (after breakfast, lunch, and before sleeping)

The purpose of brushing teeth is to clean the plaque away. First, brush it from the back right / left to the front and ends in the other side.


There are some ways in brushing teeth:

(a)Vertical movement.

Direction :move your brush up and down while the upper and lower jaws closed. This movement is for the tooth surface facing the cheek (buccal/labial), while for the tooth surface facing the tongue/palate (lingual/palatal), the movement to brush up and down in an open mouth.
Disadvantage : if it is not done properly, it can cause gingival recession/reduction in the gums so that the roots of the teeth will be visible.

(b)Horizontal movement.


Direction of brush movement : back and forth from buccal and lingual surfaces. Rubbing motion on the field known as chewing brush scrub. It's easy to do and in accordance with the form of chewing surface anatomy. Combination vertical-horizontal movements, it must be done carefully because it can cause gum recession / tooth abrasion layer.

(c)Roll movement techniques / Stillman modifications.

It is the most simple movements, most recommended, efficient and reach all parts of the mouth. Fur brush is placed on the surface of the gums, far from the surface occlusal / field chewing, hair brush tip led to the apex / tip of the root, move slowly through the surface of the tooth so that the back of the brush head moves in a curve.

At the time the fur brush through the crown, almost upright position against the surface of the email. Repeat this movement until approximately 12 times, so no one missed. This method can massages gums and cleaning the interproximal / between the teeth from food debris.
